Get Ready for the 2-Day Denim Workshop!

November 1–2 | 9:30 AM–4:30 PM
Plano Sewing Center – Plano, Texas
Class Fee: $130

Are you ready to tackle that denim project you’ve been wanting to make? Join me for two full days of sewing, fitting, learning, and creating at my 2-Day Denim Workshop at Plano Sewing Center!

This workshop is designed to help you gain confidence working with denim while learning the techniques that give handmade garments a polished, professional finish. You choose your project! Make a pair of jeans, a denim jacket, skirt, or another denim garment you’ve been wanting to add to your wardrobe.

What We’ll Cover

Throughout the two days, we’ll work on techniques including denim construction, fitting, seam finishes, professional topstitching, working with heavier fabrics, and installing jeans hardware.

I’ll also share an inspirational PowerPoint presentation featuring denim garments, construction ideas, design details, and techniques to help you think creatively about your project. Students will receive helpful handouts to use during class and keep for future denim projects.

Prepare Before Class

To get the most from our two days together, please come to class with your pattern selected and your project planned.

I strongly suggest making a simple test-fitting garment (muslin/toile) before class, especially if you are making jeans or a fitted jacket. Your test garment does not need pockets, zippers, topstitching, or other details—we only need the basic silhouette so we can evaluate the fit.

This gives us an opportunity to identify and correct fitting issues before you cut into your good denim.

If you prefer, you may use your first denim garment as your test fit. We can work on construction techniques while initially basting areas such as the side seams so minor fitting adjustments can be made before completing the garment.

Choosing Your Denim Pattern

Students may use the denim pattern of their choice. You are not required to make a specific pattern or project.

If you’re still deciding what to make, I have selected several jeans and jacket patterns that work particularly well for this workshop. Denim patterns are available for purchase through the Stitch Me Studio website, and some patterns will also be available during class.

Visit stitchmestudio.com to see available patterns and register for the workshop.

What to Bring

Please bring your sewing machine, selected pattern, denim fabric, thread, interfacing, zipper and the basic sewing supplies and notions needed for your project.

Don’t worry if you don’t have all of your jeans hardware before class. Buttons, rivets and other denim hardware will be available for purchase during the workshop, giving you an opportunity to select the appropriate finishing details for your garment.
